Breed Specific Training Classes & Consultations

Herding Class

If you have a herding breed, you'll notice their herding instincts overspilling into both play and training. Giving them a specific herding outlet allows these dogs to channel their instincts appropriately and it's also fun!

Our new herding class runs every Friday evening in Whittlesey and is open to any dog in the pastoral group and also any dog who is crossed with a herding breed.

We teach a sport called treibball, which involves training dogs to drive and herd gym ball into a pen. Once your dog has learnt this sport, it's something you can do in your garden or local park, just like a game of fetch but much more exciting!

Border Collie Consultation

Border Collies are a specialist breed and as such they have very specific needs. As a new collie owner I can help you to prevent some of the more common behaviour problems that are seen in this breed from developing and can give you specific activities which allow your Collie to channel his/her instincts.

In a Border Collie consultation I cover:

  • Heelwork
  • How to prevent boredom and destructive behaviours
  • Tackling predatory problems
  • Preventing Separation issues
  • Children and Border Collies
  • Channeling your dogs herding instinct

Greyhound Consultation

Greyhounds are another specialist breed and many greyhound owners choose to adopt a retired racer. These dogs make wonderful pets but it can sometimes be a difficult transition from a racing kennel environment to your sofa, without any training. Greyhound consultations are designed to help you with this transition and to prevent any common greyhound behavioural problems from developing.

In a Greyhound consultation I cover:

  • Getting used to a home environment
  • Recall
  • Preventing Separation issues
  • Tackling predatory problems
  • Meeting other breeds of dogs
  • Channelling your dogs instinct to run

Siberian Husky Consultations

Huskies are a breed which require the right training in order to prevent behavioural problems. Their energy and stamina can be channeled into the wrong thing if they don't get the right exercise and mental stimulation. These consultations can help to prevent or resolve breed specific problems and also provide you with activities to keep your Husky happy.

In a Husky consultation I cover:

  • Heelwork
  • Recall
  • Preventing boredom and destructive behaviours
  • Tackling predatory problem
  • Children and Huskies
  • Channelling your dogs instincts to run

Springer Spaniel Consultations

Springers can have a lot of energy and because of what they were bred for their nose can sometimes get the better of them. It's important that Springers get the right mental stimulation to tire their brain out and that their instincts are properly channeled. These consultations include the obedience tasks which are most difficult for Springers and give you guidance in preventing breed specific behavioural problems.

In a Springer Spaniel Consultation I cover:

  • Heelwork
  • Recall
  • Leave it
  • Tackling predatory problems
  • Preventing boredom and destructive behaviours
  • Channelling your dogs hunting instinct
