Hi everyone,

Did you know....

Newfoundlands have a water resistant coat and actually have webbed feet. This assisted the breed with their original job of hauling nets for fishermen.

Hi everyone,

I hope all you dogs out there are having a lovely summer, myself I've been having a hoot laying out in the garden shaded by my parasol with a bowl of water on hand (or rather paw)! Anyway it's time for my fact of the month again.

Did you know.....

Australian Shepherd Dogs are not actually from Australia as the name suggests, they originated in America and were bred to work on ranches. Aussies, as they are nicknamed, were originally used as 'cowdogs' and herded cattle rather than sheep, although they can herd sheep too (though probably not as well as I could!).

Bye for now and remember to look out for my next post.

Hi everyone,

Did you know.....

African Wild Dogs regurgitate food not just for puppies and younger members of the pack but also as an attempt to bond before courtship and mating. Who said romance was dead?!

Hi everyone,

did you know........

A Border Collie X Kelpie from Norwich named Osbert Humperdinck Pumpernickle (Ozzy for short) made it into the Guinness Book of World records in 2014, for being the fastest tightrope walking dog. 4 year old Ozzy crossed a 3.5 metre tightrope in 18.22 seconds.

However, a bonus fact for you......

Matisse is the first dog to tackle a double tightrope

Hi everyone,

So, I know that I've been off the grid and missed my April post (I apologise for slacking) but I'm back now and I'm very pleased that Jules O'Dwyer and Matisse have just been crowned the Britains Got Talent Winners of 2015! After their marvellous performance I just had to vote for them, I'd been a fan since the very first performance. In fact I liked Matisse before he even started dancing, I can't think why. It's obviously got nothing to do with him being a fellow Border Collie.

Anyway, it appears that us dogs are taking over as Matisse is the second dog act to win Britains Got Talent. No doubt we all remember the very talented Ashleigh and Pudsey who won the show in 2012. So look out for my very appropriate fact of the month, coming up next.
